PLEASANTLY WARM WEEKEND: For once a warm weekend to enjoy outside with temperatures in the 60s to lower 70s today and 70s to near 80 on Sunday. The fly in the ointment could be a few clouds over the southern half of the state today with a slight chance of a shower in the far southern counties. This would be spotty at best with the main activity looking to stay across Missouri. Otherwise plenty of sunshine elsewhere with no issues whatsoever.

NEXT SYSTEM: Next weather maker moves in late Sunday night into Monday with some showers and thunderstorms possible. This will mainly be across the northern half of the state and not everyone will get wet. The front stalls over the area Monday and begins to lift back north as a warm front taking the precipitation with it, but only temporarily as the next system drops in Tuesday into Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms will fire along the front as it sags into the state Tuesday afternoon into the evening. Severe weather is possible with the Tuesday activity but it’s too early to determine that at this time. The GFS shows that front stalling over the state Tuesday night through Wednesday which may lead to some heavy rainfall in the state. Temperatures will take a turn downward with readings falling back into the 50s to lower 60s Wednesday. As the colder air moves in Wednesday night into Thursday morning, the GFS is hinting at the possibility of the precipitation possibly ending as a wintry mix or maybe rain with some sleet. This is only a suggestion and may change, but this has been seen before so it’s not out of the realm of possibility for this to occur. Stay tuned for more on this interesting system.

COLD CORE LOW, UH OH: A cold core upper low will form off of the front that will be stalled due to a High Pressure Center off of Newfoundland (specifically Labrador), this will keep cooler and somewhat showery weather around. This run has the cold core moving south of the state into the Ohio and Tennessee River Valleys next weekend. However, a system over the east will be shunted westward through the Great Lakes that may bring us the showers and perhaps thunderstorms to the area. This is a very changeable forecast and would need to be monitored further for any changes, but in any case it does look to get cooler and showery by next weekend at least.
