WETTISH START: A storm system will be overhead today into tonight with some showers and thunderstorms possible. None of them are expected to be severe. Temperatures today will range wildly from the upper 30s NW where the cold front will have gone through early in the day to the mid to upper 60s in the southeast where some sunshine is possible early. As the cold air moves in, the precipitation is expected to changeover to a wintry mix of rain and snow, possibly all snow in the NW where accumulations are possible albeit light. Early rain showers in the southeastern counties Tuesday will give way to clearing skies late but readings will be much cooler. Highs Tuesday will be in the upper 30s through the upper 40s.
MORE SYSTEMS: A weak disturbance will move through the state Wednesday night into Thursday morning with a few sprinkles or flurries but not much else. Temperatures rebound back into the 50s and 60s by late this week but moisture returns as well with more showers and thunderstorms possible Friday with a system moving in from the west. Saturday looks dry to start off the last weekend in April with temperatures likely near seasonal levels by that time. Another system Sunday could bring more rain and thunderstorms as well.
HERE COMES MAY: GFS showing a ridge moving overhead as we move into the month of May. This would bring much warmer temperatures to the area, but there still is some chances of showers and thunderstorms intermixed in as well. GFS still showing a cut off low over the middle portion of the country at the end of the forecast. That would bring cooler weather around here with showers and a few thunderstorms around mainly during the daytime heating of the day. We’ll keep an eye on it.
