ON THE REBOUND: Temperatures are on the way up for the rest of the week. Sunshine will continue across the state today with readings heading into the upper 40s to near 60. It will warm a few more degrees Thursday with 50s and lower 60s possible across the area. A weak cold front will move through late Thursday that may lower the readings a few degrees Friday but only down into the upper 40s through the 50s.

NEXT SYSTEM: A storm moves in from the west late Friday night into Saturday. Some showers are possible but the better moisture will be across Minnesota and northern Wisconsin. Amounts will be light with perhaps up to a tenth or two of an inch possible before the storm moves out Saturday night. Another storm Sunday night into early Monday could bring some more rain to the state with the heaviest likely targeting the southern counties of the state. There could be some embedded thunder with this system but severe weather is not likely.

NEXT WEEK: The next system, potentially strong moves in late Monday night into Tuesday with some showers and thunderstorms. At this time, severe weather looks to stay to our south over MO, KS, AR, OK and TX. But some beneficial rain is likely with the heaviest likely over the southern counties of the state. As the storm moves northeastward south of the state colder air will wrap in behind the system by Wednesday afternoon into the evening possibly changing the precipitation over to a rain snow mix before ending next Thursday. We’ll continue to keep an eye on this system over the coming days.

FARTHER ALONG: Another storm around the 13th and 14th could bring more rain to the state with near seasonal readings with the GFS pans out. If the GFS is on the right track ANOTHER storm could effect the state again on the 16th and 17th with possible showers and thunderstorms and perhaps heavy rainfall. Where was this last year when we need the moisture? We’ll keep looking for trends as this is likely to change, but the active pattern looks to be a recurring trend of late.
