MOVIN’ ON UP: The Jeffersons may have moved on up to the east side, but our temperatures are movin’ on up as well. Considering that we’re supposed to be in the mid 40s to lower 50s for this time of year for highs, seeing highs in the 30s to near 40 tomorrow will seem cold in comparison but is a tick warmer than today and this past weekend. Readings will continue their march on up toward 50 in the southwestern counties as early as Wednesday and perhaps statewide by either Friday or this coming Easter Weekend. A weak disturbance could kick off a few flurries Wednesday night into Thursday but the models aren’t showing it as much as they have been over the last few days. It won’t amount to anything regardless. In any case, we’re finally going to get a piece of the warm weather pie.
WEEKEND LOOKING WET: A front will move down from the northwest Saturday into Sunday with a chance of a few showers possible along it. It will be warm enough statewide for this and amounts aren’t expected to be too heavy with this system so a massive run-off isn’t expected given the ground is still somewhat frozen in some areas. Cold air will filter in behind the system that could bring some of the precipitation to an end Sunday afternoon into Sunday night as some light snow or a few flurries. Little if any accumulation is likely with that at this time.
INTO APRIL: The big storm that has been seen on models for quite a while over the first few days of the month is now off the board at least for now. We can blame cold Canadian air for that. Later on we may see another push of cold air duking it out with warm spring air over the plains and possibly Iowa with some rainfall. Way too early to call that at this time, but it is something we have to watch over the next couple of days.
