COLD START TO LAST WEEK OF MARCH: A few flurries will fly across the sky today mainly in the eastern and southern counties of the state. There will be no additional accumulation with this. Skies will remain cloudy with highs still below average in the 30s. The colder than average temperatures continue into Tuesday and Wednesday as skies clear but temperatures fail to rise much. A weak disturbance Wednesday night into Thursday may kick off a few flurries or sprinkles but shouldn’t amount to a lot.
WEEKEND MESS: Temperatures will warm back into the 40s by the end of the week but with the warmer weather will come more active weather as a new system moves toward the state by the weekend. This may bring some rain perhaps mixed with some snow Saturday and Sunday across the state. Amounts look to be light at this time but we’ll get a better handle on this in coming days.
FUN TO BEGIN APRIL: Looking into the following week, the GFS continues to show a major storm system around the 2nd and 3rd of April. Over the last week, we’ve seen anything from rain and snow to possible severe weather with this system. This run looks to be rain with perhaps some thunderstorms mixed in as temperatures are likely to be near to slightly above average by that time. We will be watching this system over the next week for any trends regarding this possible storm early next week. Cold air does win the battle again later in the week with a possible cold rain or possibly some snow around the 5th, but will continue to monitor nonetheless. More rain possible on the 7th and 8th as the first week or so of the month looks active at this time.
