NO VIDEOS UNTIL MONDAY
BYE BYE STORM: The GFS has finally gotten with the rest of the models on keeping the storm south of the state this weekend. The southern tiers of counties may get clipped with some light snow or flurries with perhaps a very light accumulation there Saturday night into Sunday. Otherwise it’s going to stay cold and mainly dry for a while across the state with readings well below average and sunshine around. Highs today will be in the 20s to lower 30s.
MORE COLD WEATHER: If you like the cold weather you’re going to be in for even more cold weather into the end of the month with perhaps some precipitation around the 29th and 30th of March, with more cold air settling in thereafter. It’s still too early to watch this system, but amounts now look to be light to moderate.
APRIL SNOW BRINGS MAY FLOW: Looking far out into the not too distant future, the GFS wants to bring a cut off low near the state around the 4th and 5th of April that could bring some snow to the state possibly moderate. This would be very close to the 40th anniversary of the Blizzard of 1973, that dumped well over 10″ of snow on a good chunk of the state, over 20″ at Belle Plaine. Let’s hope we don’t have a repeat of that anytime soon.
