WIDE RANGING: A large variation in temperatures again today across the state with another disturbance set to move through the northern and eastern counties. Some rain, snow or a mix of the two will be possible in those areas during the morning and again in the afternoon into the evening hours. Temperatures will be dependent on the amount of cloud cover across the state. Readings in the 30s to lower 40s will be common in the northern and northeastern counties of the state while the central and southern counties may make it into the low 60s, with some partial sunshine.
EARLY WEEK STORM: The GFS is showing the storm Sunday may skirt the southern tier of counties with some rain snow mix, however this looks to be anomalous as many of the runs have shown the precipitation to stay along and south of I-70 in MO. The 00z NAM also keeps the precipitation there as well, but it will return during the overnight hours Sunday night into Monday with a new system coming in from the west. The precipitation may start out as a mix early change to some rain over the southern counties and then change to some snow before ending overnight Monday into Tuesday. A good tenth to two tenths of an inch of liquid is possible, some of it in the form of rain, snow and or some sleet as well. There may be some travel issues Monday but nothing major at this time, although always expect the unexpected.
INTO THE WEEK: Cooler air will prevail for the first part of the week, with readings at least 5-10 degrees below seasonal levels for the middle to latter half of March. Another disturbance will move through the state Wednesday with some rain snow mix possible, but amounts should stay on the light side with that storm. A much bigger system lies in wait late Thursday into Friday with the possibility of seeing more rain, snow or a mix across the state. This storm could pack a punch and will need to be watched closely over the next few days.
MARCHING ALONG THE MONTH: A few disturbances may move through with little moisture that could squeeze out a few rain or snow showers otherwise temperatures look to stay at or just below average with a slight warming trend heading toward the beginning of April.
