A LITTLE WINTRY: A few disturbances over the next two days may spark a few areas of wintry mix of sleet, freezing drizzle or some snow across our northern and northeastern counties. The first one comes through this morning into the early afternoon hours. A few hundredths of an inch of liquid equivalent is possible with this system and the one on Friday as well, which could create a few slick spots on roads but should be of no problem elsewhere. The rest of the state will be partly to mostly sunny with highs today in the 30s northeast to mid 50s southwest. Friday will be warmer with some upper 30s north and northeast to the lower 60s! south. Heavily snow covered areas will likely be in the 40s to near 50 (30s northeast).

NEXT STORM: Another storm, a bit stronger than the ones today and tomorrow will move in from the northwest Sunday night into Monday bringing some rain, wintry mix and then a changeover to some snow across the state. Right now, moisture will be somewhat limited with this feature but it could bring at least a tenth or two of precipitation to the area. This may come in the form of rain, snow or a mix. Some accumulating snow is possible with the system but only an inch or two is likely with perhaps a few heavier totals if the ratios are indicated to be higher than average. Colder air will filter down behind the system with a slow warming trend into the middle of the week.

BIGGER STORM: Another storm takes aim at the state late Wednesday into Thursday. Warmer air will keep most of the precipitation as rain although early on some wintry mix is possible in the northern counties but the precipitation should be rather light at that time before temperatures rise. Rain will occur Thursday with a possible switch to snow next Friday into early Saturday. This of course borders on “voo-doo” and is likely to change, although the models have been persistent with the system and the active period to end the month. A disturbance on the 25th and 26th may bring some rain or snow to the southwestern half of the state along another northwesterly flow that will set up. Another storm is looking to come at the state at the end of the period around the 29th as well.
