Three Iowa Department of Transportation garages across the state have suspended snowplow operations for the overnight hours and will return at 5AM Monday. High Winds have been creating dangerous road conditions for drivers and is causing drifting – which does not let plow drivers make any progress cleaning the roadways. When snowplows to not clear the roadways, traffic becomes easily congested and road conditions deteriorate quickly with the weather – which prompted the DOT to close some West Central Iowa roadways and issue a Travel Advisory elsewhere.
Please remember that if you do not need to be traveling tonight or tomorrow, absolutely stay off the roads! You are putting your life at risk by driving in this type of weather – whether how experienced you are at driving.
Stay tuned for further information.
