COLD START WARM FINISH: Temperatures will begin a rise into the 40s by the end of the week across the state. This will occur after seeing highs today in the upper 20s to middle 30s and lows in the single digits and teens. There will be plenty of sunshine overhead with some passing clouds from time to time and southerly winds by Thursday into Friday.
WEEKEND FUN: Our focus will soon turn to the next storm system that will effect the state over the weekend with some chances of rain, wintry mix or snow. Saturday will see the clouds roll in with a few showers possible during the day. Temperatures will be warm enough during the day for all of the precipitation to be in the form of some rain. We could see some rumbles of thunder mixed in as well. As the cold air filters in behind the storm on Sunday the precipitation may end in the form of a wintry mix or snow across the state. It’s too early to determine any accumulations or amounts at this time but the heaviest of the precipitation looks to fall on Saturday when readings will be well above freezing. Temperatures retreat back into the 30s to begin the new work week.
EXTENDED ACTIVE: The Model is still showing some active weather through the middle weeks of the month across the area with several storm systems moving quickly through. Some brief shots of cold air are possible with the model showing some of it nosing down into the state. Don’t see anything “big” in the next two weeks but we’ll be keeping an eye out regardless.
