The National Weather Services across the state have extended their winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories to include nearly three-fourths of the state and also extend them to noon tomorrow. The snow cutoff line (where one place would receive nothing and 20 miles down the road from that place would receive heavy amounts) was put farther north than anticipated, therefore allowing more significant snowfall totals across the state and warranting additional warning and advisories.

 

Forecasted snowfall has also taken a bit of a turn with these new weather alerts. While we think the National Weather Service has put these totals slightly too high in SW Iowa, it will be about right. The majority of NW, WC, and NC Iowa should stay clear while farther Southeast the totals will be higher. The cutoff line is easily seen on this map, which is from Southwest to Northeast Iowa.

Southeast Iowa will see about 7-9 inches of snow, give or take an inch. Farther North into Central Iowa, you should receive roughly 4-6 inches. And the numbers will greatly diminish as you travel Northwest.
