THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW…WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CST WEDNESDAY. THE WINTER STORM
WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* TIMING…RAIN WILL BEGIN TO CHANGE OVER TO SNOW ACROSS CENTRAL
IOWA EARLY THIS EVENING. THE SNOWFALL WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE
OVERNIGHT HOURS AND TAPER OFF TO FLURRIES WEDNESDAY.

* STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…HEAVIEST SNOWFALL TOTALS WILL
BE BETWEEN 4 TO 6 INCHES…WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY… WINDS WILL INCREASE THROUGH THE EVENING AND
OVERNIGHT HOURS. NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH
GUSTS AS HIGH AS 35 MPH TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. VISIBILITIES
WILL BE REDUCED TO ONE HALF MILE TO ONE QUARTER MILE AT TIMES
LATE TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING DUE TO THE SNOW AND BLOWING
SNOW.

* IMPACTS…SNOW MAY INITIALLY BE HEAVY AND WET AS IT TRANSITIONS
