QUIET TIMES: Looking fairly quiet over the next week at least across the state with a few warm days followed by another cold shot from the northwest late this week into the weekend and early next week. Today we’ll see highs in the 20s and 30s, with 30s and 40s for highs on Wednesday.

COLD POOL: By this weekend an Alberta Clipper will be racing through the state, but it won’t be bringing any precipitation with it, unless you’re in Wisconsin or the snow belts of the Great Lakes. It will however be bringing another batch of cold air from the northwest and this could be significant with highs dropping into the teens or lower and morning lows could be in the single digits above or below zero. Things may change slightly on this but that’s our thinking at this time.

LACK OF SNOW: The model isn’t really giving what many people around here would want and that’s snow. If it’s going to be this cold then there might as well be snow on the ground, well the GFS has hinted at some storms in the long range from time to time, but it’s too difficult to predict something that is on and off every model run to specify anything at this time. We can only hope for some snow but the chances right now aren’t promising to say the least currently.
