PLEASANT DAYS: Sunshine but cold temperatures will reign this weekend across the state. Readings will be dependent on the amount of snow on the ground. Highs in the southern and southeastern counties may reach 30 degrees both today and Sunday while the heavier snow pack areas may barely get into the 20s, perhaps even the upper teens. Lows will be in the single digits and teens statewide.

CHRISTMAS: Christmas will be white across the state, but there will be none falling from the sky Tuesday. There will be a storm just skirting the state to the south bringing some snow to areas like Arkansas and southern Missouri northeastward through the Ohio Valley. We may see a few clouds from this system otherwise more cold air will rush into the state dropping highs back into the teens and lows into the single digits, perhaps even sub-zero in some areas.

END OF WEEK SNOW: Snow does return to the forecast by the end of the week with some light snow possible across mainly the southern two thirds of the state. Another storm will be moving south of the state but will be close enough to bring some of the white stuff to our neck of the woods. Too early at this time to discuss amounts, but it looks to be light at this time.

INTO 2013: Even though this will change in the very next run, there may be signs of a warm up by the first week of January, but there also may be some more snow along with that. We’ll keep watching in future IWR’s.
