RAINY SNOWY WEEKEND: A storm system will be moving through this weekend, late tonight into Sunday across the state. It will bring some rain, snow and a bit of a mix of the two. Any snow accumulations will be in the far northern counties and likely be an inch or perhaps two at best. Most of that will melt as ground temperatures are still warm, but it will stick to cars and some bridges and overpasses so road conditions could be treacherous for those driving Saturday night into Sunday. Amounts in liquid equivalent will range between a tenth and quarter inch with perhaps some areas getting up to a third of an inch.

DRY AND COLD: The upcoming work week doesn’t look promising for the snow lovers and it looks to remain dry and cold even if we don’t have any snow cover on the ground. Readings in the 20s and 30s for highs with lows in the single digits and teens. It will warm close to average by the end of the week with another storm possible by the following weekend.

PATTERN CONTINUES: Lack of any trends will keep us from being confident in the medium to long range at this time, but one pattern seems to be emerging, the lack of any big storms in the next two weeks. We’ve seen some from run to run, but this run shows a lack of any at this time. Given what has transpired this year with the lack of any rainfall and snowfall last winter, this would not be a trend we would want to see set up.
