SNOW GIVETH SNOW TAKETH AWAY: Becoming frustrated with the lack of model consistency over the runs today. The 12z run showed a lot of possible snow across the state only for the 00z run to take all of the snow away. The storm we speak of is the Sunday system that was projected to bring the first snow of the year to most in the state. Now it looks like a cold rainy system with perhaps some snow mixed in. Most models agree with this setup with doesn’t bode well for those who want to see some snow right now less than 3 weeks before Christmas. Today will be warm with isolated showers along a cold front sweeping across the state. Friday will be cooler and cloudy with perhaps some snow in far NW Iowa (albeit light and mostly flurry activity at best). Saturday will be partly to mostly sunny with increasing clouds with readings in the 30s to lower 40s.

BLIZZARD BONANZA: If you are as frustrated with this weekend storm as many are right now, you’re bound to get a double dose of it. GFS is showing a possible snow storm around the 18th of December again. This is the same storm we mentioned in the Model Madness Post two days ago. Just want to make mention of it given the wildness of the models at this time. At this rate we’ll be lucky if we get tomorrow’s forecast right let along something 12 days out.
