Fog has been slow to burn off this afternoon across the southern counties and far northeastern counties of the state. This has kept temperatures from rising well into the 50s and even lower 60s in some areas. For example at 1pm this afternoon Des Moines had 1/8th of a mile visibility in fog and a temperature of 47 while 50 miles to the northeast in Marshalltown, the sky was sunny and 56. The fog may not completely burn off in these areas before sunset thus the fog may and is likely to return again tonight and could be dense once more. This will likely lead to more dense fog advisories across the state. Make sure if you are driving to use low beams if you come across foggy conditions and slow down as well.
