NEXT RAIN: Another disturbance will move into the state later tonight into Friday with some showers and thunderstorms possible . This will be the last rain chance we have for several days as behind the front will come cool Canadian High Pressure from the north and northwest. Rainfall will be anywhere between a quarter to three quarters of an inch with isolated heavier totals in any thunderstorms that form. Severe weather is not expected with this system.
COOL WEEKEND: The upcoming weekend will be cool with readings in the 60s and 70s across the state with mostly sunny skies. There will be no problems with tailgating at the local college football games Saturday morning and afternoon. It could be a bit chilly during the morning but will quickly warm in the afternoon. A pinpoint look will be in tomorrow’s IWR.
WARMING TREND: Readings will rise back into the 80s by the early and especially middle of next week ahead of another cold front coming from the NW. The GFS is showing most of the energy with this next system to be over Canada, so the chances of rain don’t look too promising at this time, but it’s still several days out and we’ll keep watch on any changes.
FROSTY!: Farther out, the model is depicting several cold snaps blasting out of the north in about 10-14 days time. This could bring the first frost of the season to the northern Midwest, perhaps as far south as Central Minnesota and northern Wisconsin if this pans out. We could see readings well down into the 40s and perhaps a few upper 30s in cooler locations. It’s still way out there and could change again (it has several times already) we’re just looking for any trends that may develop at this time.
