Subject: General Thunderstorm Information Added to Storm
Prediction Center (SPC) Day 3 Convective Outlook
Effective September 25, 2012
Effective Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at approximately
1500 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the SPC will add general thunderstorm information to all SPC Day 3 Convective Outlooks. This includes changes to:
-National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD) products
-Points (PTS) product
-Redbook Graphic product
This change is for the Continental U.S. only and will not involve changes to World Meteorological Organization Headers or Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System IDs.
After this change, the SPC Day 3 Convective Outlook will contain the same information as the SPC Day 2 Convective Outlook, including a definition of the area of general thunderstorms along with the already existing defined area of risk of severe thunderstorms: Slight, Moderate or High.
