Red Flag Warning; Some Open Burn Bans Remain

Not much to report on the severe weather front, however due to the high temperatures, breezy winds, and dry conditions the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for northern Iowa effective until around 8 PM this evening. This includes all counties along and north of US 30 and roughly along and west of US 65. In addition burn bans remain in effect for several counties in the warned area, they are: Lyon, Sioux, O’Brien, Clay, Cerro Gordo, Plymouth, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Humboldt, Franklin, Woodbury, Ida, Sac, Calhoun, Webster (Excludes Fort Dodge), Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, and Story. Conditions are severe enough it prompted the Storm Prediction Center in Norman to issue a critical risk on their fire
weather forecast.

A number of counties elsewhere in the state still have burn bans in effect, they are: Audubon, Jasper, Poweshiek, Pottawattamie, Cass, Madison, Warren, Keokuk, Mills, Montgomery,  Fremont, Page, Taylor, Wayne, Appanoose, and Lee. All other bans previously in effect have since been rescinded by the requesting agencies.
