WARMER THAN RAIN: A few warm days ahead of the state before a cold front moves in bringing some slightly cooler and drier conditions albeit not for a while. Temperatures today and tomorrow will be in the 80s and 90s with partly to mostly sunny skies. A cold front will move in late Thursday into Friday with some showers and thunderstorms. Right now it looks like the best chance will be in the western half of the state as the GFS wants to weaken the system drastically as it moves eastward. The better chance will be with the system that comes right after on Saturday night into Sunday. Both these systems together could bring at least a half to one inch of rain to the state with heavier totals in areas that get repeated activity.
WARM LABOR DAY?: The GFS seems to be locked right now on a pattern shift back to June and July type weather for the last few days of August into the Labor Day weekend. This is in response more or less to Isaac that is forecasted to move along the eastern seaboard sometime this weekend into early next week. A ridge is forecast to build over the plains and move in our direction and move the storm track well to our north again. If this does occur, the rain chances will drop to almost nothing and readings could be back in the 90s once more for the first week of September.
