COOL WEATHER: For once, a good forecast to talk about even though it doesn’t involve a whole lot of rain until Sunday. Temperatures will be at or slightly below average with readings in the 70s to lower to middle 80s across the state with low humidity. We could see some readings Saturday morning getting close to record lows once again with some upper 40s possible especially in the northern counties of the state.
RAIN RAIN RAIN: There’s seems to be ample chances of showers and thunderstorms over the next two weeks with this pattern change we’ve gone through. The first comes with a system departing this morning that may bring some quick rain to the southeastern counties early this morning, otherwise Sunday will be the next chance to see any rain, followed by a mid-week system next week that we’ll need to keep an eye on. The new drought monitor comes out tomorrow morning. Expect to see no real changes to the drought, although there could be “some” improvement with the amount of rain that fell on Saturday and in the subsequent days thereafter, we’ll see.
STATE FAIR: There should be no issues weather related for the Iowa State Fair which opens today in Des Moines. Seasonally cool temperatures and mostly sunny skies with only a chance of rain Sunday will complete the first few days of the fair. A slight warm up with rain at mid-week doesn’t look to dampen any fairgoers either.
