HOT WITH ISOLATED RAIN: There’s no real changes over the last few days over what is going to be taking place this week. Temperatures will be hot and there’s slight chances of some isolated showers and thunderstorms through Wednesday at least. Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories remain in effect in the western 2/3rds of the state outside the northern counties. More heat advisories and warnings are possible over the next few days. RAGBRAI looks to be hot throughout with slightly cooler readings toward the end of the week, although readings around 90 won’t seem “cooler”.

AUGUST: Pattern doesn’t look to change a whole lot into the first few days of August either, the heat ridge will move back to our west once again with a northwesterly flow aloft. This could bring some rainfall albeit light to the state, but there’s no telling when that heat ridge could easily move back over us again bringing hot weather into the state once more just before State Fair is to begin.
