BECOMING HOT AGAIN: A slight cool off today will be short lived as the frontal system that brought the showers and thunderstorms Friday retreats back across the state to the north on Sunday and into Monday. With this, there could be a risk of some showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be severe with large hail and damaging winds being the main threats. Rainfall will be generally in the quarter to half inch range although any thunderstorm may produce more than that.

HOT 4TH: It’s looking like it’s going to be a very hot day for Independence Day this year, temperatures will be well into the 90s with heat indices approaching or exceeding 100 again. The GFS wants to paint a chance of a few showers once again across the northern and eastern counties of the state, and although we won’t rule out the chance that there could be one or two cells on radar, the chances of any one place getting wet is very low at this point.

COOLING DOWN: GFS still is showing a cool Canadian high pressure nosing in toward the middle of the month that may break our heat spell at least for a while at that time. We’ll continue to monitor any changes to this as we move closer to that time period.
