TROPICAL: “Debby” to make landfall as Hurricane later this week

It’s been a while since we last talked about the tropics. Well, since Iowa is generally quiet this week, let’s talk about Tropical Storm “Debby” that is currently centered in the Gulf of Mexico. “Debby” is currently roughly 200 Miles Southeast of the Mouth of the Mississippi, which is moving Northward at 6 MPH as of the 1AM advisory. The National Hurricane has already issued A Tropical Storm Warning for the majority of the Louisiana coast, with more and possibly Hurricane Watches expected to be issued farther West into portions of Texas later this week. “Debby” has also already produced storm totals up to 7 inches in Florida, with intensification expected through next week. Computer models are currently showing Debby going many places, from Florida to Louisiana to the East Coast or simply in circles, but the NHC seems to be rather confident that it will be turning Northwest to West into portions of Texas and Northern Mexico.

We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as needed.
