STORMY POSSIBLE: There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms mainly this afternoon into the evening hours over the northwestern half of the state. The main threats will be from large hail and damaging straight line winds, although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out in the northern two tiers of counties from I-35 on to the west. Some beneficial rain will come out of this as well with some areas getting at least an inch or more possible. Better chances of the heavier rain look to remain over the slight risk areas at this time.
MORE RAIN RAIN RAIN: This looks to begin an active period for the state and region with several chances of showers and thunderstorms through the weekend. Not everyone will see rain everyday nor will it be an all day rain for sure. There will lots of dry time and sunshine in between the rain activity. Most of it will occur during the late afternoon into the overnight hours. Temperatures during this time will be warm as well with upper 80s to lower 90s possible.
HOT HOT HOT: The heat bubble in about 10-14 days still looks on target for us. Buster Poindexter would agree that it’s going to be hot hot hot in about two weeks across the state and the GFS has shown no signs of dissipating this feature over the last few days, so any rain currently will be of significance if we head into a very hot and dry pattern at the end of the month.
