RAIN CHANCES INCREASING: Several chances of rain now in store across the state over the week breaking what could have been a fairly dry week across the state. Chances begin later this evening in NW Iowa and last through the weekend, but they will be slight and not everyone will see a shower or storm everyday nor will these last very long in your area, but we’ll take anything we can get at this point. Temperatures will slowly increase into the upper 80s to lower 90s by this weekend with increased humidity, possibly a bit more than this past weekend thus seeing heat indices a bit higher as well.

HEAT WAVE: The trend is looking more and more like a heat wave will begin to build in about 10 days time across the Plains but not really take hold around here. We’ll have a northerly flow aloft keeping us rather temperate around here with warmer conditions the further west you travel. The heat will get pushed back (at least according to this run) by an upper level low that will come in from the east and northeast, although by the end of the run, this feature gets kicked out and the 594 ridge begins its march to the east once again.
