Welcome back, Severe Weather. It’s been a while.

Well, severe weather as you know, has stalled far, far away from Iowa, mainly in Oklahoma. After two or so weeks, the Storm Prediction Center has posted a Slight Risk of Severe Weather for the entire Western portion of Iowa.
Here is how the day is supposed to go. Early tomorrow morning, thunderstorms are expected to linger over Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. These are expected to not be severe. Later in the day, a dryline/surface trough will destabilize from Texas to Nebraska, and possible Extreme South Dakota. The strong cap in place over the area is expected to erode by early afternoon, and surface convergence will be enough to start development. Shear at this time appears to be minimal, but winds are expected to veer to the mid levels, creating a slight hodograph (click here for definition) which will create slow moving supercells favorable for very large hail and damaging winds.
We will continue to monitor this situation and update you as needed.
