Severe Weather Potential Returns later Tonight

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has posted a Slight Risk for Severe Weather for the Central and Southern plains, with a portion of Iowa inside. Primary threats with this will be dangerous lightning, flooding possibilities, damaging winds, and an isolated large hail report. Showers & Thunderstorms will develop late in the day today in the West with the greatest potential in West Central and South Western Iowa. At this time, the threat appears rather low, but persons in these areas should stay tuned for later forecasts and possible warnings. Storm chances will eventually die out overnight leaving little or no chance of thunderstorm potential for Eastern Iowa with stabilizing conditions. I do not anticipate a live coverage window later tonight, and I leave that possibility at 45%. We have another threat tomorrow, but it appears marginal like many other days. Stay tuned for further updates.
