The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective until 10pm this evening for the following counties, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Pottawattamie, Shelby, Burt NE, Thurston NE, Washington NE, Douglas NE, Sarpy NE and Otoe NE. Showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and into this evening and move into the area. These storms will be capable of large hail and damaging straight line winds. Along with the severe weather threat, heavy rain is possible as well which may lead to some brief ponding of water and or rapid rises in creeks and streams.
