Travelogue 2012: Too Rainy

As I type I’m in my hotel room in New Britain Connecticut, a suburb of Hartford. I went into New York state today for some business and ran into periods of rain throughout my time there. Wish we could have had some of this the week we were supposed to get heavy rain and didn’t but oh well. After skinning my knee and elbows and shoulders falling down a steep and very wet embankment my mother (who is with me on this trip) and I went to eat at a Pizza Hut in Cobleskill NY. Of course while we ate it began to rain again. Oh the rain and the clouds that seemed to come up from the treetops like smoke from a wild fire in the forest. But I knew what it was and I didn’t figure to call the fire department when the next shower was bound to squelch any flames that might be on the way to the forested top. Anyway a few more hours of fun before crisscrossing the turnpikes and throughways and making the way round and round to the hotel that I’m currently staying at right now. More rain is forecast, unlike in Iowa where the weather will be dry with slowly warming temperatures. I’d take the slowly warming temperatures over the predicted downpour that might get some around here thinking about building the ark. More tomorrow if I haven’t been swept away by the torrent of fresh rainwater.
