The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective until 1pm this afternoon for the following counties, Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Clarke, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Guthrie, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren, Wayne. Storms are currently moving through the southern counties of the state this morning. The main threat from these storms looks to be strong damaging winds with a minor hail threat. Along with the severe weather, there will be some torrential rains that may cause some brief flooding in low-lying areas. These storms will quickly move out of the area early this afternoon.
