Severe Weather Threat for Friday

Here are the severe weather threat areas for Friday into Friday night. A slight risk of severe weather covers the entire state of Iowa. The main threats from any of these storms will be from large hail and damaging straight line winds. The hatched black area over the western counties of the state into adjcent Nebraska and South Dakota could see some significant severe weather with possibly large hail over golf ball sized and wind to 70-80mph plus and isolated tornadoes. Along with the severe weather threat, comes the heavy rain threat. With a lot of rain coming down over the last few days albeit not evenly in all areas, some flash flooding could be possible if storms train over the same areas. Be aware of that if you’re near a creek or stream or river that has the tendency to flood easily in heavy rain.
