11:30AM UPDATE: Final Hours until Storms; Minor SPC Tweaks

As we come down to these final hours of normal weather, the Storm Prediction Center has been updating there Day 1 severe map multiple times this morning. The map is still normal as yesterday, but moved the High Risk further to the West and the Slight Risk to include all of Iowa. The area where Severe Weather will be at it’s worst will be in Kansas and Nebraska, where they will see the main threats of violent, long-lived tornadoes and very large hail.

They have also updated the probabilities for different Severe Weather aspects. The main threat is tornadoes, but the area where the possibility is the biggest is in Nebraska and Kansas with a 45% chance. We are currently in a 10-30% chance to the west, and a 5% chance to the East.
These chances are very high and very rare to see during Severe Weather season, and to see them this early. This has us concerned very much as dozens and dozens of tornadoes are possible. Along with that, damaging winds and very large hail is another concern for this afternoon.
My advice to you is this. Prepare. Have an emergency kit ready to go, and be ready to go to shelter if warnings are issued. This is not an everyday situation. The possibility of seeing tornadoes like the Tuscaloosa and Joplin ones are possible. Even likely.

urge you to listen to NOAA Weather Radio, Web, Local Television & Radio providers for the latest weather information. Call your friends if they live in this area and inform them of this. You could be saving their lives.

We will launch a Live Chat, as well as Storm Track: Live later today. Stay tuned.
