HIGH RISK: The Storm Prediction Center has issued a High Risk of severe weather for Saturday and Saturday night for areas of Kansas namely, from Salina and Manhattan KS southward to Oklahoma City. A moderate risk of severe weather extends into southwestern Iowa, including Omaha-Council Bluffs. A slight risk includes the rest of the state. All modes of severe weather are possible with the best chances being in the high risk area. Some long tracked tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds will be possible throughout the risk area on Saturday. This could be a life threatening situation for those who live there or maybe traveling there on Saturday.

HEAVY RAIN: There could be some heavy amounts of rain from these storms as they move through the area over the next couple of days. HPC has at least an inch and a half to 3 inches of rain possible. I believe the 3″ will be isolated with most areas seeing at least 1.5-2.25″ through Monday.

BECOMING ZONAL: Temperatures drop back into the 50s for highs next week before returning toward average once again as the pattern becomes zonal. A few quick moving disturbances next week may kick up a shower but it won’t be an all day rain and not everyone will get wet.

ANOTHER STORM: Way out there near the end of the run, could be another severe weather episode waiting to happen. We’ve seen this on the GFS for the last several days bouncing around from day to day. The trend has been for a storm similar to the one moving through today-Monday in about two weeks time, the problem has been keeping it on one day or another.

WEATHER RADIO: If you don’t have a weather radio, I would suggest in the wake of a very severe weather episode in the region to get one and have it programmed. There are may apps for iPhone and Android users with regards to weather radio as well. A weather radio or app may be worth more than just the cost, it could save your life!
