Frost and Freeze Tonight

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning effective Friday morning for the following counties, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Carroll IL, Jo Daviess IL, Mercer IL, Rock Island IL, Whiteside IL, Black Hawk, Bremer, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Franklin, Grundy, Hancock, Tama, Winnebago, Worth, Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Howard, Mitchell, Winneshiek, Fillmore MN, Houston MN, Mower MN, Crawford WI, Grant WI and Vernon WI. Temperatures in these areas will drop into the lower 30s by morning with some of the cooler locations possibly dropping into the upper 20s. This will kill any sensitive plants that may have already begun growing due to the warmer than normal weather we’ve had over the last several weeks. Make sure to cover the plants that you want to save tonight. Farther to the south and west, a Frost Advisory is also in effect where temperatures will drop into the lower and middle 30s. Same conditons apply there as with the freeze warning. The counties in the Frost Advisory are, Henry, Iowa, Keokuk, Washington, Des Moines, Henderson IL, Emmet, Hamilton, Hardin, Humboldt, Kossuth, Marshall, Palo Alto, Webster, Wright, Jasper and Poweshiek.
