SNOW ACTIVITY: A clipper system will be racing through the state today with some light accumulations of snow. Amounts will remain at or under an inch and shouldn’t cause many travel difficulties. What could be a bigger difficulty may be the wind. A Wind Advisory has been issued for southeastern South Dakota, eastern Nebraska and southwestern Iowa for Sunday afternoon where winds may gust over 45mph at times. The storm will move off to the southeast quickly by the evening hours.

WARM ON THE WAY: The beginning of the new work week will also bring another rise in temperatures. Readings will climb back into the 40s to lower 50s across the state on Monday, cooler readings to the north and east on breezy southerly and southwesterly winds. Tuesday will be even warmer, with many areas getting into the 50s and 60s. This will be ahead of a storm system that will bring some precipitation on Wednesday into early on Thursday.

ULL TO THE SOUTH: The front will be gone by Thursday but the GFS has been showing an upper level feature forming along the front and parking itself west of Wichita Falls TX. This will influence the weather here slightly with no new systems coming in for several days after and no real push of colder air either. In fact temperatures will likely remain in the 40s across the state until the feature finally kicks out by next weekend which may brush the state with more precipitation at that time. Following that the weather will become a bit more variable with no real late season pushes of cold air, however that may change on further models.
