NEXT SYSTEM FRIDAY: Another system will be on the way to the state Friday, but several models are having difficulty with what may occur. Basing off the GFS Model Run, we are likely to see some wintry mix move in late tonight into Friday morning. Friday will see the precipitation change to rain and then to snow by afternoon. The GFS has shown the precipitation will mainly effect the southeastern half of the state, however other runs have shown some significant snowfall across the state or even more rain. HPC doesn’t think too highly of snow or ice accumulations for that matter as the probabilities are low for any snow over an inch across the state or much of any ice. This is a storm for sure we’ll have to keep an eye on.

COLDER THEN WARMER: The weekend will be much colder. Temperatures will be in the 30s for highs, which will be a few degrees below average for the first days of March. Some snow flurries or sprinkles will be possible Sunday ahead of a warm front that moves through and boosts the readings back into the 40s to near 50 Monday and 50s and 60s Tuesday across the state with breezy south to southwesterly winds.

MARCH OUTBREAK?: The GFS continues to show what could be the state’s first severe weather system in about 10 days time across the region. It has been seen on several runs before but at different times. Be aware that even in March we can see severe weather and even a few tornadoes. Don’t let your guard down.
