DISTURBANCE FREEWAY: All aboard the disturbance freeway, a roadway of weak systems that will traverse the state with some rain and a wintry cocktail of sleet, snow and ice over the next few days. Although the amounts through the end of the week will remain light, at least a quarter inch of liquid or less, it will be enough to cause some slippery roads in some areas.

SUNDAY EVENT: The storm is still a bit of a mystery at this time. It looks like most of the moisture with the system will remain over Minnesota and Wisconsin, however there is still a decent chance to see some light precipitation over at least the northern half of the state during the day. GFS is more bullish about the precip in Iowa, CGEM less so. UKMET is more in line with the GFS but is a bit quicker with the storm. Overall it looks like snow across MN and WI with some snow and a wintry mix here (maybe even some rain if temperatures can warm). More details on later runs.

ROARING INTO MARCH: The first week of March looks to be quite the lion across the state if the model works out. One storm on the 3rd followed by another much larger system on the 6th-7th could make things interesting across the area. The first looks to be the colder of the two thus better chances for some wintry precipitation with that one with rain possible with the second one switching to snow or wintry mix as it pulls off. But this is likely to change in future runs, just looking at trends at this time.
