WINTRY MIX TODAY: Snow will begin the day across a good portion of the state, however temperatures may rise enough especially across the southern and eastern counties where some of the snowy mix may change to rain before switching back to all snow later Sunday night into Monday. Accumulations are expected to remain light as will the ice potential. However, even with the littlest bit of ice, roads will likely become slippery during the morning and early afternoon hours especially the eastern half of the state.
SEASONALLY COOL: The rest of the week looks rather benign with partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 20s and 30s across the state depending on the amount of snow cover. A few flurries of light snow showers may dot the landscape on Saturday otherwise the next storm will hold off until the middle of the following week.
FEB SNOW & CHILL: The next storm of significance will come on the 1st and 2nd of February with some snow possible with that system, albeit much lighter than previous runs. However the cold arctic chill has returned following the system on the 5th-6th. We’ll see how this looks on future runs.
NEWS: IWB is looking for weather spotters across the state of Iowa and surrounding counties that border the state. Details will be forthcoming in the next few days.
