The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 9am this morning until 6am Monday morning for the following counties, Black Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Butler, Calhoun, Carroll, Cerro Gordo, Crawford, Emmet, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Kossuth, Marshall, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Sac, Story, Tama, Webster, Winnebago, Worth and Wright. Freezing drizzle will be the main story today with some of it mixing with some sleet and rain. It will gradually change to all snow tonight. Ice amounts will be light with only a glazing possible. Snow accumulations will range around an inch or so.
The National Weather Service in LaCrosse has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory effective at 9am this morning until Midnight for Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Howard, Mitchell and Winneshiek counties. Here the freezing drizzle is expected to be a little heavier with up to a tenth of an inch of ice possible across this area. This will cause dangerous travel on roads, but power outages aren’t expected at this time. It will transition to snow here as well late tonight with only minor accumulations possible.
