Counties Added, Others Upgraded

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities have upgraded Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque and Jackson counties to a Winter Storm Warning effective at 6am this morning until 6pm this evening (Jackson county is in effect until 9pm). The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Boone, Calhoun, Greene, Jasper, Marshall, Polk, Poweshiek, Sac and Story counties. The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has also added counties to the Winter Weather Advisory. These counties are Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Muscatine and Scott counties.

Snowfall amounts are expected to be in the 3-6″ range with isolated amounts up to 8″ possible along the US Hwy 20 corridor. Snow has already begun in western Iowa and is moving east. It will depart later this evening.
