The Winter Weather Advisory has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning for Delaware, Dubuque, Linn, Jones, Cedar, Clinton, Jackson and Scott Counties.
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN QUAD CITIES HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SNOW…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
TIMING…SNOW…HEAVY AT TIMES…WILL CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING…THEN DIMINISH TO FLURRIES BY MIDNIGHT.
WIND…NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CONTINUE FROM 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH POSSIBLE. WINDS WILL DIMINISH TO 15 TO 25 MPH IN THE EVENING.
SNOW…SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS BY THURSDAY EVENING SHOULD RANGE FROM 5 TO 7 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS.
WIND CHILLS…THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS AND AIR TEMPERATURES ONLY IN THE TEENS WILL RESULT IN WIND CHILL READINGS IN THE RANGE OF ZERO TO 10 BELOW TODAY AND TONIGHT.
IMPACT…ROADWAYS WILL BECOME SLICK AND SNOW COVERED OVER MUCH OF THE AREA. DRIFTING SNOW WITH LOCALIZED BLOWING SNOW WILL MAKE ROADS DIFFICULT TO KEEP CLEAR AND CREATE AREAS OF POOR VISIBILITY IN OPEN COUNTRY. SOME IMPROVEMENT CAN BE EXPECTED TOWARD MIDNIGHT AS WINDS DECREASE AND THE SNOWFALL TAPERS OFF.
