The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective at 9pm this evening and lasting until Midnight Friday morning for the following counties, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Henry, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren and Washington.
TIMING…SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN FOR MOST AREAS BETWEEN 9 PM AND MIDNIGHT TONIGHT…AND CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THURSDAY.
WIND…WINDS WILL INCREASE OUT OF THE NORTHWEST THIS AFTERNOON AND BLOW AT 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH TONIGHT AND INTO THURSDAY MORNING.
SNOW…SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM AN INCH OR TWO FOR AREAS SOUTHWEST OF A LINE FROM MARENGO IOWA TO MACOMB ILLINOIS. NORTHEAST OF THAT LINE…ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.
WIND CHILLS…THE COMBINATION OF STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS AND AIR TEMPERATURES ONLY IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS WILL RESULT IN BITTER COLD WIND CHILL READINGS. WIND CHILL TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS LATE TONIGHT AND THURSDAY…THEN FROM ZERO TO 10 BELOW THURSDAY NIGHT.
