MAINLY QUIET: There is only a slight chance of some flurries or light snow showers across far northeastern Iowa later tonight into Saturday morning, otherwise it’ll be dry and quiet across the state through Sunday. Temperatures will remain near seasonal levels with 30s to near 40 for highs and teens to lower 20s for lows. Sunday will see readings above average with upper 30s to middle 40s.

NEXT STORM: The models are really starting to get a handle on this system. Earlier GFS runs showed the storm close enough to the state to produce some light to moderate snow Tuesday across the state, however the latest 00z GFS Model Run, shows the snow across mainly far southern and southeastern Iowa, even further south then was mentioned last night. It will all depend on the track of the low from the southwest. Right now as it looks the main event will take place from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon with the heaviest precipitation (in whatever form) taking shape Tuesday morning. HPC doesn’t seem too thrilled with precipitation amounts either, but we’ll have the weekend to get a hold on amounts. After this event only a few snow flurries or light snow showers on Thursday night into Friday of next week looks to be the last gasp for any snow pack on the ground for Christmas.

CHRISTMAS: Still looking dry and seasonal for Christmas, with readings a few degrees either side of 30°. It will remain dry with partly to mostly sunny skies as of now. Looking further along to New Year’s Eve. That day (right now) looks to be warmer than average and dry as well.
