WINTER FUN BEGINS: Looks like an all day rain across the southeastern half of the state. Some of the precipitation may mix with some sleet in the early morning as temperatures rise. The precipitation across NW Iowa should start in the form of a mix or all snow.

Latest Snowfall Projection
This is the latest snowfall projection (isn’t on video). This is fairly close to the NAM and GFS in terms of where the snow should fall and how much. Winter Storm Watches and Advisories are in effect. These are likely to get changed later this morning. The snow and any other precipitation will end by Sunday morning as the storm lifts out to the northeast. Cold weather will follow and with a fresh snow pack by Tuesday and Wednesday morning, there could be some temperatures at or below zero. We’ll have to wait and see on that.

QUIET AGAIN: The rest of the upcoming week will remain quiet and chilly with readings in the 20s and 30s for highs. Outside of snow packed areas, lows will be in the upper single digits and teens. Another shot of cold air comes in Thursday with perhaps a flurries or snow shower but not much else. Several more cold snaps through mid-month are possible as well given the latest model run, but no more “significant” snowstorms aren’t foreseen at this time.
