DRY TIL WEEKEND: After some rain, sleet and snow across the state, we’ll dry out for a few days ahead of the next storm that will make an appearance toward the end of the weekend. Temperatures will be seasonal with 50s across the state. Saturday will be very windy with some gusts up to 40mph plus. Some wind advisories could be issued for Saturday. A cold front will move into the state Sunday with a few showers and maybe even an isolated thunderstorm possible but any precipitation will be widely scattered with the main energy moving well to the north.

INTERESTING MIDWEEK: The storm system right on the heels of the weekend one looks to be a doozy. Rain will begin to move into the state late Monday night into Tuesday morning from the south, with some light to moderate rain possible Tuesday across the eastern half, the western half will see isolated activity. The low will get organized over the Texas and Oklahoma panhandle and move slowly to the ENE. By Wednesday it will be near St Louis with rain overspreading the state once again (mainly across the southeastern half). Wednesday night, the precipitation may mix with some sleet and snow across the southeastern half although accumulations will be little if any given the ground temperatures being well above freezing. Precipitation will taper off by Thursday as the storm begins to lift out. We’ll need to look at this storm for any future moves that may change precipitation type and when it comes.

LATER: The month gets colder at mid-month with the chance of several clipper type systems that may bring some rain or snow to the state along with the coldest readings we’ve seen since last winter.
