ACTIVE WEATHER: The weather is going to start getting active across the state now, with several storm systems moving through the state over the next week. The first today will bring a few showers to the state mainly in the morning across the west and through the middle of the afternoon across the eastern counties. Amounts will be less than a quarter inch. The next storm on Wednesday into Thursday will be significantly stronger with a lot more moisture in it. The latest QPF chart shows amounts well over 1-2″ possible with this system with some places possibly getting close to 3″. This storm will move out Thursday afternoon with slightly cooler conditions following. Another storm which looks to be the strongest of them all comes in from the southwest on Saturday through Sunday. This will bring some showers, thunderstorms some which could be severe just to our south if this pans out and snow possibly over the northern Plains into Minnesota possibly effecting the northwest corner of the state. We’ll have to keep an eye on this one in future runs. Temperatures will remain a few degrees either side of average through the week with highs mainly remaining in the 50s and lows in the 30s.
FARTHER OUT: The pattern becomes a little less active toward mid-month. The storm we’d been seeing on model runs around the 9th and 10th as disappeared on this run. The follow up storm on the 12th as also disappeared for the time being. A major cold snap looks possible toward mid-month which we’ll have to look at over the next few days.
