SLOW MOVING RAIN: The chances of rainfall will be slow to move across the state over the next several days. Today the main risk of any rain will be over the western half of the state, mainly west of Interstate 35. To the east, sunshine with some clouds will remain with breezy southerly winds and elevated fire danger once more. Sunday the rainfall will be concentrated just to the west of the state, however some rain may move into areas such as the Siouxland and Loess Hills between Sioux City and Omaha. Monday will see rain chances across western Iowa, Tuesday across the east and Wednesday statewide. Thursday and Friday could see some widely scattered showers across NE Iowa around the storm system as it meanders around the Great Lakes.

MORE ACTIVE AHEAD: The weather pattern looks to become more active with several disturbances moving through the state during the middle of October. This may alleviate some of the drought conditions depending on the amount of rainfall. There doesn’t seem to be a push of colder air in this model run, but we’re on the watch for it at anytime.
