DRY AND WARM CONTINUED: The dry and warm weather will continue across the state for several more days. However, a storm system may begin to bring rain into the state by late on Friday into the weekend. However, up to that point, the state has an elevated fire risk and many counties have issued burn bans (mainly across central into NW Iowa) The best chances of rain look to remain over the western half of the state over the weekend with chances decreasing into early next week as the front system begins to dissipate over the area. Heaviest rainfall will be over the west where amounts may approach an inch, but is more likely to remain at a half inch or less.

ACTIVE WEATHER: The weather pattern becomes more active into the middle of October with the jet stream directly overhead. We’re likely to see many disturbances bringing some chances of showers and possibly a clap or two of thunder. There looks to be no signs of cold weather moving in as on the run yesterday, but it’s likely not too far in the future.
